As an aide in digestion, granola speeds to the top of the list. Granola is most commonly used by those who wish to up their intake of fiber because granola offers both soluble and insoluble fiber. Fiber is desirable because of its ability to regulate the digestion of foods and add bulk and weight to bowel movements so they are more solid, and therefore, easier to pass. In other words, granola makes you poop better. If you are suffering constipation, eat some granola. Remember, constipation is often the source of heartburn, indigestion and excess flatulence.

Granola is a lightweight food, yet surprisingly filling. The soluble fiber found in granola has been proven to reduce the harmful LDL cholesterol as well as promoting healthy cholesterol. There is no better way to prevent the buildup of plaque in your arteries than by reducing your bad cholesterol and increasing the good cholesterol.

There is a really good reason why granola is the food of choice for hikers, campers and other outdoor enthusiasts because it is a concentrated form of energy. That is, granola will give you that boost of energy when you need it the most. In addition, it doesn’t fill your body with all that added sugar which will lead to a crash. 5. If We Were Superstar Champs and Were Asked Where We Would Go After the Game, We Would Have to Say Texas, and Not Just Because of the Fabulous Granola

If you were watching the Denver Broncos celebrate their Super Bowl victory last night, you may have seen Peyton Manning state that he was going to Disneyland. Now, for years this has been a marketing tool Disneyland has used, getting a star player from the Super Bowl, World Series or other championship teams to let the world know their destination plans after the big victory. But we wonder why these star players choose Disneyland? If you just won the Super Bowl, would Disneyland even be on the top 100 places you would go? If we were superstar champs and were asked where we would go after the game, we would have to say Texas, and not just because of the fabulous granola.

Here are the reasons why we think Peyton Manning should skip Disneyland and come to Texas instead.

Peyton has done a serious of commercials with Papa Johns pizza. This could be because he likes pizza. Now, if Peyton were to visit Texas, he would discover a whole slew of pizza places that most Texans would choose over Papa Johns. For example, if he were to visit Houston, he could enjoy a slice or two from Luigi’s Pizza, which garnered a healthy 4.6 rating on Yelp. And Frank’s Pizza offers New York style pizzas and rates very high on Yelp as well.

Peyton has also plugged Nationwide Insurance Company in several commercial spots and has made it known on more than one occasion his love for chicken parmesan. Well, a quick Google search reveals Dallas is full of fine restaurants that serve chicken parmesan sandwiches. But if he were to show up in Dallas in the next few days instead of Disneyland, we would recommend ordering a chicken parmesan sandwich from Rocco’s.

So Peyton, if you find yourself on the winning end of another Super Bowl game, we suggest you make Texas your destination.

  6. Texas Parents Should Look Into Adopting Granola Into Their Children’s Breakfast Foods

If you are feeding your children Froot Loops for breakfast every morning, you might want to look into healthier alternatives. Granted, Froot Loops and other kid’s cereals are quite tasty, but they are far from good for your kids. In fact, Froot Loops might be killing your kids. That might seem to be an overstatement with a touch too much drama, but the point we are trying to make is your kids will benefit if you stop feeding them horribly unhealthy foods. Texas parents should look into adopting granola into their children’s breakfast foods.

Now, here are the reasons Froot Loops should not be in your pantry.

If you take a look at the ingredients list on the side of a box of Froot Loops, you will discover the first ingredient on that list is sugar. Yup, that means there is more sugar in Froot loops than anything else. In fact, in just 12 grams of Froot Loops, there is 1/2 cup of sugar. Yummy! And many of us wonder why we are a nation of people who are obese. One big problem with white sugar is that it is heavily processed, and therefore, provides a lot of empty calories. Basically, this means your body is getting the calories without the benefit of vitamins and minerals your body needs to properly function. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, child obesity has more than doubled in the last 30 years, and Froot Loops are partially to blame.

The National Cancer Institute has stated that since 1992, childhood cancers rates have increased by nearly 10 percent. It has also stated a rise in food allergies as well. There are also studies that have linked artificial food dyes to cancer risks as well as other detrimental health conditions. In other words, food dyes should be something not to include in your child’s breakfast foods.

Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) is a preservative commonly found in many processed foods including cereal. Basically, BHT preserves fats and flavor, color and odor. But there is much talk concerning the impact BHT has on the body, and it is not good. While there are no studies that conclude it is harmful, there are also no studies that conclude it is safe either.

In the future, ignore the cereal aisle at your grocery store and opt for other, healthier breakfast foods instead. And stock up on granola as it is a great alternative to processed foods like Froot Loops.

If you live in the great state of Texas and enjoy good granola, there are a few things you should know. Living in Texas means there are a ton of job opportunities at any of the thousands of dude ranches up and down our state. Which is why you need to have plenty of granola handy to help make it through those long and tough days. Here is a short list of jobs common at dude ranches where keeping a stash of granola is recommended.

And even though you will be close to a source of food, you cannot expect to live on trout alone. In addition, you simply can’t break for lunch and head to Applebee’s for their riblet plate.

Hiking Guide– Like a fishing guide, a hiking guide will spend their days outside in the elements burning up a whole lot of calories. And unless you plan of snaring a few rabbits or gunning down a deer, you better have a backpack full of food. A bag or two of granola should be a daily staple.

Rafting Guide– Like the fishing guide or hiking guide, a rafting guide will spend their work days twisting down the rapids. Rafting is not an easy task, it is physical and very tiring. At the end of a river run, nothing will fill you up and energize you better than granola.

Cook– Don’t look so surprised. Cooking is hard work and you need all the energy you can get to make it through three meals a day. Sure, a cook might have a ton of food at their disposal, but you simply can’t live on burgers, hot dogs and beans every day.

Ranch Hand– Now, this is one job that requires a bit of fitness. From mucking out the barns and stables to rounding up the livestock, this is a job where you need all the energy you can muster. So make sure you fill a feed bag with granola each day to help you through the long stretches.

Wrangler– While riding around on a horse all day lassoing cattle might be rather fun and interesting, it is still a very physical job. In addition to the beef jerky you gnaw on all day, mix in some healthy granola for variety.
